                                Adoption Program

_ Every child has the right to a family. It is the duty of all birth parents to provide each child with the basic necessities for survival, proper child rearing, and character building. Moreover, the birth family shall serve as the basic foundation in providing a loving and nurturing environment for any child to reach his/ her full potential.

However, there are certain instances when a child's stay with his/ her own family becomes a disadvantage, especially when problems of broken, dysfunctional families, abuse, neglect, chronic illness, death, and other issues hinder the child to grow and develop normally. The traditional response is to place a child in an institution.

This time, there is an increasing awareness on the advantages of alternative family care: Foster Home Care and Adoption.

Adoption is a socio- legal process of providing a permanent family to a child whose parents are unable to care for him/ her permanently whether voluntarily or through intervention of DSWD. It enables the child to enjoy family life as it provides him/ her with equal rights and privileges as if the child was born to the adoptive parents.

NORFIL's Domestic Adoption Program is our response to the increasing number of children without parental care in the Philippines.
