_Community-Based Counseling and Group Home for Single Mothers cum Nursery (HSM)

Services to single expectant mothers is a social work intervention which is primarily focused in helping women and girls from ages 12 to 39 to gain satisfying life experiences and protection during crisis brought about by abuse or unwed pregnancy.

The Program is NORFIL’s response to the increasing rate of unmarried mothers, which has become a growing concern in the Philippines.  Adequate supportive services to these mothers will prevent their accepting help from those who would advise abortion as well as those who have questionable personal interest on their babies or from persons who are often detrimental to the best interest of both mother and her baby.

We believe that Social Work Services can promote the unmarried mothers capabilities for more satisfying and effective lives.  Therefore we provide temporary home in our residential facility located in Quezon City.

While under residential care, necessary services are also provided to include pre and post natal care, health and other social services, counseling and other appropriate intervention for the resolution of conflicts brought about by the unwanted pregnancy, skills training, personality enhancement and other educational activities.  We also provide assistance to pregnant single mothers/women in the community through community-based counseling program and services.  All of these services are aimed at preparing the women to assume their new roles as solo parents.

After-care services or follow-up assistance to single mothers and their babies after their discharge from the residential care are also given to facilitate their reintegration to their families and communities.
